Hi, I'm Travis Corpening, and I'm about to
teach you, just how to do a Reverse Layup.
Here we are at Carolina Beach Recreation Center,
and the first thing you want to do, when you're
trying to do a Reverse Layup, is you want
to be able to jump from one side of the goal,
at least to the other side of the rim, so
once you take off, you want to position yourself
to where, when you're taking off, you're already
prepared, before you even jump. You're all
ready prepared, to make it, on the other side
of the rim. Now, by preparing yourself before
you get to the other side of the rim, what
you do is, you allow yourself more time to
adjust to the defense, to have your mind and
body adjust to the defense, for whatever may
happen, while you're in the air, so that you
can complete the shot, so what you do, is
you take off, reach with your opposite hand.
If you're coming from the left side of the
basket, you want to complete it with your
right hand. If you're coming from the right
side of the basket, you want to complete it
with your left hand, but you can interchange,
if you're skilled enough. After you come from
the other side of the basket, you want to
reach around, and you either want to spin
it, or you want to tap it, right in the middle
of the box, over the top of the rim. Once
you do this, practice it a few times, and
it's a really effective shot, during the game,
when you're in a tight squeeze, and the defense
is really playing you down low. There you
have it, the Reverse Layup.
