Hello, I’m Dr. Neal Schultz
[pause]
and welcome to DermTV.
Hello, I am Dr. Neal Schultz, and welcome
to DermTV. We have all heard at
one time or another in your lives that you
are supposed to drink eight
glasses of water a day in order to have healthy
and hydrated skin. I have
no idea where that came from. I know of no
medical study, I know of no
scientific study that has ever demonstrated
that. Drinking a glass of water
does not directly hydrate your skin. Of course,
if you are in a proverbial
desert and you are completely dehydrated,
drinking a glass of water is
going to help your skin as it will the rest
of your body. But drinking a
glass of water does not directly correlate
with the appearance of your
skin. So, think of it this way: if you are
thirsty, drink water. Thirst is
your body’s mechanism that tells you that
your body needs water. But if
your skin is dry, try a moisturizer. Please

I am Dr. Neal Schultz, and thank you for watching
today.
